Vacation: Portland, Oregon
March 8 - 11, 2008

Day Three – March 10, 2008

8:57 a.m. - Everyone's up! Showering! Dressing! We're going down to a breakfast cart on the corner. Then it's back to the room to get a rental car. Destination: wine country!

11:30 a.m. - We all ate breakfast burritos from Locos Locos Burritos. The extra Locos means extra loco. The burritos weighed two pounds each, no joke. I don't think that I need to eat again for a week.

We're basically sitting on our hands waiting for the rental car to be delivered so that we can go to wine country. Stupid work called me about something completely unnecessary and that put me in a really bad mood. I feel like putting in my resignation over the phone. Fucking pathetic. Bring the rental car already, Enterprise. I need comfort-wine stat.

4:40 p.m. - The rental car was finally delivered (no extra insurance, thank you) and we wined it up real good. We visited Torii Mor, Argyle, amd Rex Hill wineries. Rex Hill was our favorite, mostly due to the presence of the pourer's husband. He kept it real and even outed a "corked" bottle. I doubt that we'd have known the difference. Lady Awesome bought six bottles of wine in total, while Cat bought three bottles. Big spenders!

6:53 p.m. - We ignored lunch and ate an early dinner snack at Best Bento. Lady Awesome's chicken bento box looked awesome. Cat got a serious helping of ramen noodles, and I got a spring roll that was heavy on the chicken (p.s. I don't eat chicken). Then we went to our hotel's happy hour, where Cat met up with two friends who were also visiting Portland. She finished her painting, which pretty much meant signing her name at the bottom so that she could hang out with her friends. I had three glasses of Sauvignon Blanc (whoops!). Lady Awesome drank gin martinis. And now we're in the room waiting for Cat to poop or something so that we can go to dinner at Pok Pok.

10:10 p.m. - Pok Pok. Pok Pok. We took the bus to Pok Pok, an incredible "crazy fusion" restaurant which turned out to be the highlight of the trip. I had mussel crepes. Cat had hot wings with salad (not as mundane as it sounds). Lady Awesome had mango catfish salad. Food aside, I had  the greatest cocktail of my life. Whiskey (serezaca?) soda with bitters. Incredibly great. I don't know what else to say so I'll let Lady Awesome and Cat finish this entry out.

Lady Awesome:  If you like some of Portland, you'll probably like all of Portland.
Cat:   Crazy fusion. Crazy cheap. Crazy good.

Day Four – March 11, 2008

4:00 a.m. - Four fucking a.m. I hate four a.m. I'm falling asleep as I type this.

6:00 a.m. - Lady Awesome and I are on the plane home. During the cab ride to the Airport, our driver blabbed about Portland fun facts the entire way. Did you know that Portland's airport is twenty feet above sea level? Neat, but I'm going to get my pillow ready now. Goobye, Portland.
