Vacation: Portland, Oregon
March 8 - 11, 2008

Day Two – March 9, 2008

8:45 a.m. - We're all up. It's supposed to be 7:45 a.m., but Daylight Savings Time (spring forward) had to go and stick it to us. Not that it matters considering that Lady Awesome and I are three hours behind our regular timezone anyway. The hotel delivered a three-inch edition of the Sunday New York Times to our door. Pass. Someone hand me Parade Magazine. Ooh, Tina Fey is on the cover. I hope James Brady asks her the hard questions (i.e. Where would we know you from?).

10:30 a.m. - We ate breakfast at Three Lions Bakery, which oddly features one lion in their logo. Then we rode a bus to the boutiques on Alberta Street, where Lady Awesome and Cat bought boutique dresses for boutique dolllars. To be fair, I bought a trendy shirt at Foundation for $22, which was reduced from $54 because it lacked a button. The guy who owned Foundation recommended an awesome Mexican restaurant called La Bonita, where we later consumed shrimp tacos and homemade lemonade.

4:34 p.m. - The ladies got coffee while I went to a record store that yielded nothing. I came back to the hotel room and took an accidental nap for an hour. When I woke up, Lady Awesome and Cat  were in the room and it freaked me out. I thought hearing them come back would have woken me up, but no. My body's sense of hearing failed me.

10:34 p.m. - We ate dinner at Toro Bravo (more high-quality bus action!). The wait for a table sucked, but the food was good. Lady Awesome thought the tapas were too heavy. This may be true, but we're on vacation. Cardiac arrest can wait.

The bus driver failed to see us at the stop so we had to wave her down. When we boarded she said, "Here's a tip. Stand where I can see you." Bitch. She also kicked off a woman who didn't have enough money to enter a zone. The woman called the bus driver a "fucking cunt." It's really nice to know that personalities clash no matter what city you're in.

The three of us are back in the room now. Lady Awesome is using her laptop. Cat is reading a book, and I'm writing this while having a beverage. I'm on vacation.
